CHAPTER HISTORY
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is well-known for sisterhood, scholarship, and service. It was these characteristics coupled with a lifetime commitment that ignited anew the flame of Delta and propelled a group of twenty local young women along the Mississippi Gulf Coast to seek a charter. These motivated ladies, who pledged Delta at their respective colleges, worked diligently to organize a chapter. After a series of planning meetings and formal correspondences with Regional and National Headquarters, the goal was accomplished!
Saturday, March 19, 1966, at the former Edgewater Hotel in Biloxi, MS, these young ladies received a charter from the regional director, the late Soror Maggie McDonnell of Memphis, TN. The Chapter was named the Mississippi Gulf Coast Alumnae Chapter (MGCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
Later that same year on Sunday, November 6, 1966, at the former A.E. Perkins School in Biloxi, the new chapter hosted a program in which we were proudly introduced to the community. Our chapter has grown tremendously since its chartering, and we continue to be actively engaged in worthy projects centered around and focused on our Five-Point Programmatic Thrust.

For over 50 years, it has been the goal of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Alumnae Chapter to shine bright for Delta by undertaking activities that address the needs of the citizens within our surrounding service areas in Harrison, Hancock, and Stone counties.
Continuing in the traditions of our dynamic sorority, the MGCAC - now 100 members strong, can be found with boots on the ground addressing present-day needs in meaningful and relevant ways such as voter registration drives, health fairs, mentoring, scholarship, and social action. Annually, we strive to enhance the quality of life for residents along the Mississippi Gulf Coast area by partnering with local and national agencies. It is through hard work and a lifetime commitment that we continue to lay the groundwork for generations to come. We invite you to experience the MGCAC that is Delta!
